Hiya! My name is Emilie Kerr and this will be my fourth and final year involved in the journalism program here at Staley. I can’t wait to spend my senior year with all my best friends on staff, and to make the best magazine the school has seen yet. When I am not doing journalism, I love to go downtown to the City Market. I also love taking photos for my AP Art class.

At the Homecoming dance Sept. 23, 2017, more than 700 student showed up. It was the biggest turnout in school history. “The ‘Cupid Shuffle’ dance was my favorite because everyone was able to dance to it. I also liked this year’s dance better than last year’s because there was more participation,” said sophomore Cole Chambers.

At play rehersal on March 1, senior Claire Donawa and junior Ethan Westhoff are practicing for opening night in the PAC. Westhoff played the role of Paris, and Donawa played Lady Capulet in “Romeo and Juliet.” “I really enjoyed learning stage combat and learning how to sword fight,” said Westhoff. “But I’ll miss the seniors because this is my last show with them.”

Using the light board in AP Studio art, senior Maddie Mummert is working on one of her concentrations for her portfolio on Feb. 21. The students in AP Studio Art have 20 more blocks before submitting all projects. “My favorite thing about art is being able to come into a classroom and leave all worries at the door and let yourself go in the work you’re doing,” said Mummert.
