There are many different games you can play in your free time on your school MacBook. These can include free sites, or if you wanted to upgrade your school gaming experience you could spend a few bucks here and there on these pay-to-play games.
Free Sites
Let’s start with the free sites. In recent months, I have been diving into various “bros.io” games. These developers have made different games for various sports with more to come. For example, I have tried three games, including Kartbros.io, Baseballbros.io, and Basketbros.io. These games follow similar formats and art styles with different twists and mechanics with each game. Players can join private games that let you play with as many of your friends as the game will allow. There is also a franchise mode featured on most of the games that allows you to play with bots with varying difficulty to sharpen your skills. It is a go-to in the free computer gaming spectrum due to its simple gameplay and sport variety.
Another solid free online game is smashkarts.io. This game is a fast-paced PvP kart driving game where you pick up power-ups to battle other players. There are many game modes and customizable settings that players can choose from, along with a unique array of maps. Modes include timed battle, capture the flag, free for all, team play, and many more. Another feature is the multiplayer and private match options that allow you to play with up to 24 friends. Players can go to the in-game shop which features bundles and items you can buy with in-game currency or USD to fully customize your character. There are some issues with lag depending on how many people are playing, but in my experience, those problems are rare. It’s a good pick if you want quick matches and fun with friends.
Pay-To-Play
Now let’s turn to the pay-to-play games. First, we’ll look at Geometry Dash. Yes, I know there is a website you can play for free, but it can’t even come close to the quality of play of real Geometry Dash on the App Store. It displays an intense amount of input delay and bad visuals, along with worse mechanics that don’t compare to the real game at all. With the real Geometry Dash that you can play on the App Store for $2.99, you get the complete customization and access to all the community made levels. Players can feel the smooth gameplay with less lag and input delay. You get to experience the main levels that vary in difficulty from very beginner-friendly to advanced “Demon” difficulty. Along with the original levels and ever-expanding community levels, you get the incredible visual effects and original songs from each level. If you have a few bucks to spend, I highly recommend Geometry Dash to eat some free time after finishing your work.
My verdict? The pay-to-play Geometry Dash is an excellent way to have some fun and practice timing and focus in your free time if you have $2.99 to spare. If not, Smash Karts and all the bros.io family of games will provide a unique style and plenty of fun to your MacBook gaming.
