The Staley High School app helps students to be more connected through the Staley Twitter. It also makes checking grades and communicating with staff more efficiently. “I love the new Staley app, it’s nice to stay updated with events and with my grades.

The student app has both teachers and students buzzing.

“I think it’s fantastic,” said principal Clark Mershon. “It’s so easy.”

Communication was made easier through the app. Students can access things, such as the calendar, at the swipe of a finger, as can teachers.

“As the building’s principal, it’s another way to communicate with our stakeholders,” said Mershon. It’s also possible for different groups, say yearbook, to communicate with each other. “I’m the one who contacted this company to get this whole thing going for us.”

As with anything, there are improvements that could be made, such as a better design or saved login information. There are things that administration has yet to think of that could attract more students and teachers to the app.

“We also want to make it better,” said Mershon.

This app is just the beginning for Staley’s media communications, and most people seem excited.

“I could talk about it all day. It’s a way to celebrate,” said Mershon.

There have been 600-700 downloads of the Staley app, but those who have the app give off mixed feelings.

“It’s iffy,” said junior Emma Roth. “I only use it to check my grades since the PowerSchool app stopped working.”

The app provides perks to students because it’s a way to check grades and communicate without having to break out your Mac. But, It’s also a way to support Staley. Being only 1 of 4 schools to have an app with this company, administration want Staley’s app to be the best and most successful.

“I don’t know why kids wouldn’t use it,” said assistant principal, Dr. Chad Brinton. “There’s a lot of stuff on there.”

The app is set up so that PowerSchool, the portal, and school contacts are much easier to access, all in student’s hands, and school officials hope every student uses it.
