In the huddle, the team gathers around Head Coach Micheal Bennett as he talks to the girls Jan. 25. The team played against Park Hill High School with a score of 33-28.

It’s been a winning start to the season for the girls basketball team. With an 18-1 record, they were chosen the Hy-Vee team of the week Jan. 29 after winning the Blue Valley North Tournament Jan. 20.

“The season is going great. Our communication, energy and attitude has been some of the top components of our team this year,” senior Ava Pickens said.

The season started with a 63-44 win against Kearney High School Nov. 27, and they kept the momentum.

“Team chemistry is really good. Practices are going really good,” senior Addalynn Hotchkiss said.  “I feel really good about it.”

Four games into their season they experienced their first and only loss so far, in the game against Liberty North High School with a score of 58-60. After that game they got back to their winning streak.

“We all put in 110% effort so I think that’s why we’re so successful,” Pickens said.
