I tested six different signature dipping sauces with Zaxby’s fries to find the best dip to improve the flavor of the fries. I tried Cane’s, Wendy’s, Freddy’s, Zaxby’s, Culver’s and Chick-fil-A sauces to discover what makes each one stand out.
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers

Cane’s Sauce is a fan favorite, often praised for its rich, thick and creamy texture and perfect balance of tangy, savory, and slightly sweet notes. It’s like a smoky mayo-ketchup blend, making it great for dipping fries. The flavor is bold but not overpowering, making it stand out compared to other sauces.
Wendy’s

Wendy’s Signature Sauce has a thin but smooth texture. It has a slightly smoky blend that combines elements of barbecue and mayo with a touch of mustard. It’s creamy with mild tanginess, but it is really sweet. The sauce adds a nice layer of flavor without overwhelming the other ingredients. It was just too sweet for me.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

Freddy’s Fry Sauce is a classic take on traditional fry sauce. It’s a creamy mix of ketchup and mayo with a mild tang. It’s less complex than some others but well-loved for its simplicity. The sauce is smooth, with some sweetness, making it a good match for fries.
Zaxby’s Chicken Fingers & Buffalo Wings

Zax Sauce is creamy and tangy with a bit more zest than the typical fry sauce. It has a slightly smoky undertone with hints of garlic and a touch of spice. This sauce is thick and rich, pairing beautifully with Zaxby’s fries. It’s very flavorful and tastes similar to Cane’s sauce but just isn’t as strong in flavor.
Culver’s

Culver’s Signature Sauce has a smooth, creamy texture with a balanced sweet and tangy flavor. It has hints of pickles and mustard, giving it a unique taste. This sauce tastes too much like ranch but has a subtle but distinct flavor that enhances the fries without overpowering.
Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A Sauce is famous for its unique blend of smoky barbecue, honey mustard, and a hint of ranch creaminess. It’s sweet, tangy, and smoky all at once, creating a sauce that pairs well with fries. Its complex flavor is different from other sauces, making it a go to for many fans of Chick-fil-A.
And the winner is…
After trying all six sauces with Zaxby’s fries, Cane’s Sauce stood out for its bold flavor and its rich, creamy texture with a smoky mayo-ketchup blend. But Zax sauce came in as a close second because of the similarity to Cane’s sauce with its zesty and tangy flavor; however, it’s different because it has more smoky undertones. Overall, I recommend trying Cane’s signature dipping sauce to pair with most fries because it’s bold but not overpowering.
