After they score a point, varsity volleyball players huddle up to celebrate. On Sept. 12, Staley played Raytown High School and won the match. “Just doing something that I love,” said No. 16, junior Katie Flynn.

“It was really good winning conference especially since we were undefeated at the time,” said sophomore Sarah Wyland.

Varsity volleyball had a winning season this year. They were 27-7-2, which means they had 27 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties.

“The girls only lost 3 sets in conference play this year,” said coach Kristina Francis.

The volleyball team was led by senior captain Sydney Bailey. Francis said that she kept the girls spirits’ up and pushed them to do their very best.

“We were the only Conference Champions and it felt good not to have to share  it with another school,” said Wyland.
