The soccer team is starting off the season with only one loss against Kearney and a player breaking a school record. The team is working well together to learn and improve during practices, according to soccer coach Johnny Chain.

“They’re learning each day as we go,” said Chain. “The main thing is we stay organized keep our shape.”

The team is preparing for the upcoming districts and playoffs. Junior Bailey Becvar said the team has been having good games so far and were ready to play after the snow.

“There was one time we went up to the field with shovels and we shoveled to the sideline,” said Becvar.

Sophomore Harrison Hayworth scored six goals, a double Hat Trick, so far in the season. Chain said the game went completely how he thought it would go and everything just clicked.

“It was exciting after it happened,” said Harrison. “I didn’t know how many goals I scored until afterward.”

The first official game was on March 18 and the next game is against Raytown at Staley.
