Wrestling Places Third at State

Over Presidents Day weekend, the wrestling team finished third at the State Championships held at the Mizzou Arena.

“It was an amazing experience,” said junior Bailey Sutko. “Best experience I ever had.”

At the state championship the team had seven medalists, along with three finalists. Trey Nelson along with Dalton Sweet placed fifth, Chris Allen placed fourth, and Jonathan Melton placed third. The finalists were Brandon Baker who placed second, Jayden Bears who also placed second, and Bailey Sutko was the 285lbs State Champion.

“Overall I am proud with how we did,” said junior Jonathan Melton. “I think we stepped up and achieved more than we were suppose to.”

This year the team will be loosing three seniors Chris Allen, Dalton Sweet, and James Mahan.

“I started out as a freshman, and everything all finally came together and worked all out my senior year,” said senior Chris Allen. “I couldn’t have a for a better group of boys to work together with.”
