Junior Makayla Andrews will be spending the summer in Basque Country in Spain, on an all-expenses-paid trip.

“This scholarship to Spain just proved that the work I put in was truly worth it and being stuck in the hardship of not knowing how to do a scholarship as a junior was a challenge, but I got through it,” Andrews said. “I am most excited for the weather and the food. Just the experience to go abroad.”
She found out today she was chosen by the Student Diplomacy Core for a travel-abroad program funded by the North Kansas City Education foundation. The 100% scholarship pays for all expenses from getting passports, getting to Spain to the entire experience in Spain. Andrews was chosen as part of the “Spain: The Importance of Being Basque” program.
Andrews was the only scholar chosen from Staley High School, and there were two scholars from Oak Park High School, one from Winnetonka High School and one from North Kansas City High School.
