Being a triplet might seem unusual or even overwhelming to many people, but for freshman Brady Alexander, it is simply part of everyday life. While others may be fascinated by the idea of having two siblings the exact same age, Clara and Anna, Brady said it has always felt normal to him.
“It’s really just regular daily life,” Brady said.
Growing up alongside his sisters Anna and Clara has created many hilarious memories, especially during the triplets’ birthdays. Alexander remembered how his parents often struggled to keep the names straight when singing the birthday song.
“I remember like always on our birthday our parents would struggle to say all three of our names, even still now they do,” Brady said.
Although he and his sisters are the same age, he noted clear differences between them. One of those differences, are how Brady thinks the parents feel.
“Clara gets away with more,” Brady said.
Their personalities also showed through in how they chose to spend their free time.
“I like to play video games, but they don’t like to play video games,” Brady said.
Despite having different interests, Brady enjoys spending time with his sisters by playing games they all find fun.
“My favorite thing to do with them is play chameleon,” Brady said. “Clara is a good liar, and Anna is not a good liar.”
Outside of his family, Brady often gets surprised reactions when people learn he is a triplet. He said many people are shocked and immediately respond with excitement or disbelief.
“Oh my gosh! Really?” Brady said, repeating a common reaction he hears.
Even with the extra attention and curiosity, he did not see his situation as anything special. To him, being a triplet was simply the life he’d always known.
“It’s no big deal,” Brady said.
Looking back, he believed growing up with two siblings his age helped shape his personality and maturity. Sharing experiences from an early age taught him important life lessons sooner than he thought he would have learned otherwise.
“Being a triplet has helped me grow in a lot of ways, where if I wasn’t, I probably would have learned those lessons in life much later on,” Brady said.
For Brady, life as a triplet may surprise others, but for him, he doesn’t know anything else.
