Kansas City community members came together to take part in the worldwide “No Kings” protest, a movement attendees say is calling for equality, freedom and the end of oppressive systems of power. One of the peaceful demonstrations across the city took place near Mill Creek Park at the Country Club Plaza, where thousands of participants gathered to make their voices heard.

People of all ages showed up holding signs, chanting and marching. Volunteers handed out snacks and water and several speakers shared messages about the importance of raising awareness and ending violence in the community. Kansas City’s event was one of about 2,700 “No Kings” protests across the country, with millions showing up across all 50 states, according to The Guardian.
