Varsity basketball players juniors Henry Logan and Deione Carter run the court during preseason workouts Sept. 25. The boys basketball team has been conditioning to prepare for the season. “I just love the competitiveness and the intensity,” said Logan.

The JV and Varsity basketball teams have done many things to prepare for the season and a main part was preseason workouts. Staley is hoping that this year will turn out to be a winning season.

“I like to know where a player starts and where they end up and also how they grow from our pre-season program,” said junior varsity coach Tyler Stricklin, who prepares workouts for the basketball team

The pre season gets the basketball players ready for the actual season physically and mentally.

“Whatever you put into the program is what you will get out of it,” Stricklin said

Players and coaches expect a lot out of their players and they don’t get on players to be mean. They do it to make them better

“I expect my teammates to try their best and work hard,” said sophomore John Bastarache.

Some players like different things about basketball.

“I like the actual season more than preseason because we get to play games and I like the atmosphere,” said sophomore Christian Covington.

All the players have a goal for basketball, and it is to win a state title.

“I like the regular season better because we get to play games for a chance at a state title,” said Bastarache.
