Local college football team, Kansas State University, has had an undefeated season so far with a winning record of 9-0, ranked second in the nation.
Kansas State remained No. 2, while No. 3 Oregon passed No. 4 Notre Dame in the latest standings released Sunday, November 4th. All three contenders won last Saturday, November 3rd. Kansas State plays at TCU Saturday, November 10th, then travels to Baylor and has a bye week before finishing at home against No. 17 Texas.
“I think I have a feeling that Oregon will loose to either Stanford or Oregon Sate. Oregon is first in nation in running and 77th in passing and Stanford and Oregon State are top five run defensive teams and Oregon has only played three top rank teams so far this year,” says junior Jacob Waters. “K State has too big of a lead in the computer rankings, but Oregon has a conference champ game and K State does not, which is a disadvantage for K State.”
Kansas State has already beaten three ranked teams on the road Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Iowa State as well as No. 24 Oklahoma State at home. It’s been more than a decade since the Wildcats (9-0, 6-0 Big 12) were in this position.
“It’s the best we’ve been in years,” says sophomore Jacob Smith, “Klein for Heisman.” Collin Klein, K State’s quarterback, leads the Wildcats to an undefeated season so far with 12 passing touchdowns and 17 rushing TDs.
Klein is also leading several major Heisman Trophy straw polls by a comfortable margin; however he left last week’s game against Oklahoma State in the third quarter with an alleged head injury.
But because Klein’s injury is minor and nothing too serious he will continue to lead the Wildcats against TCU November 10th at 7 p.m.
