“Frozen” Warms the Heart
December 18, 2013
“Frozen” is an enchanting fairy tale that shows loyalty and bravery. With Broadway music and not only one but two princesses, the movie is a throwback to Disney cartoons your mom may remember. Elsa (Idina Menzel), a royal heir, was born with a power that’s also a curse: Everything she touches turns to ice. Her power is kept secret until a fluke gets her sent away from the kingdom.
It’s up to her sister, Anna (Kristen Bell), to adventure into the frozen extremes to bring her back. The journey is a little strange with a snowman as a sidekick (Josh Gad), and a mountain man as a guide (Jonathan Groff), but the tale of these sisters, and what happens when one girl’s power exceeds her ability to control it, succeeds in touching you the way all Disney movies do. And the ice-crystal visuals are mesmerizing… it’s almost like you can feel them freeze-burning you in your seat and warming your heart.
“Frozen” is an action-packed family movie suitable for all ages. It taught me an animated lesson of loyalty, which is something all kids need. Plus, the songs were so lovable; I ended up downloading them on my phone. “Frozen” earns 4 out of 5 talons.
