With murals, music and pink everywhere, Kansas City is rolling out the glittery carpet for Chappell Roan’s “Visions of Damsels and other Dangerous Things” tour coming Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 at Museum and Memorial Park outside the World War I Museum.

The Kansas City streetcar was transformed into the “Pink Pony Express,” and a mural was painted near Hamburger Mary’s to celebrate. Wearing pink cowboy hats and sparkly tops, students are just as excited to attend her show.

For senior Adele Osborne, the hype is at a “10.” Osborne saw Chapel for the first time in 2024, just as “Good Luck Babe” came out.

“The concert tickets were like 30 bucks, and it was such a close environment,” Osborne said. “She was literally right there. I’ve listened to her ever since.”

Osborne said she is most excited to hear “Naked in Manhattan,” “Subway” and “The Giver.” She plans to visit the mural painted near Hamburger Mary’s, all of the photo opportunities and purchase merchandise at the merch table.

Sophomore Lilyanna Barksdale is keeping things calm and heartfelt. She is attending with her father.

“I’ve been a fan for two or three years now,” Barksdale said.

Her favorite Chappel Roan songs are “Pink Pony Club” and “My Kink is Karma.” Barksdale plans to stay further back in the crowd instead of running toward the barricade like other fans.

“We’re just going to enjoy it,” Barksdale said.

Her plans afterward were to “just go to bed since it’ll be late.”

Whether students are planning elaborate outfits or just listening to spotify playlists, Chappel Roan’s concerts have students buzzing with anticipation. When asked what she would like to say to Chappel before the concert, Barksdale said, “You’re so awesome. You’re an inspiration.”
