Most students look forward to summer after a long school year. Over the last couple years, Kansas City is getting more popular. More artists are coming here, from pop artists to indie bands, there’s many concerts to choose from.

The Neighbourhood is coming to Kansas City, the show is Tuesday, May 31  at The Midland Theatre. The Neighbourhood just came out with a new album called “Wiped Out!” featuring songs like “Cry Baby” and “Daddy Issues.” Joining them on their tour is artists Jahkoy and Kevin Abstract.

One of the biggest artist and anticipated concerts is Drake with the rapper Future. The almost sold out Sprint Center concert is on Saturday, July 23. Drake just came out with a new album titled “Views” featuring hits like “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance.”

“I’m most excited to listen to “Views” live” said Sophomore Mikayla Watson, “The crowd is another thing I’m excited for because we are on the floor.”

If people want a concert with multiple bands, check out Buzz Beach Ball. The radio station 96.5 The Buzz holds this every year, coming back with new and trending indie/alternative artists. This year it’s two days instead of the usual one, July 16-17. Bands like Cage the Elephant, Glass Animals and Fitz & the Tantrums will be performing. Ticket prices range from $49 to $99 for passes to the two days.

For those who don’t have money to spend on concerts but want to spend time with friends and listen to good music, there are free concerts they can attend this summer. Chipotle is having their Chipotle Cultivate tour for the sixth year and is stopping at Penn Valley Park in Kansas City. Along with free music from artists, they can get a coupon for a free burrito. According to chipotlecultivate.com, they have to go through a tour to get a free burrito but in the end it will be worth it. It’s on July 23 at Penn Valley Park. The set list for the concert hasn’t been released yet.

Some other big artists coming to Kansas City are Twenty One Pilots on July 10 at Sprint Center where Selena Gomez is also performing at on July 1, and Two Door Cinema Club on June 3 at The Midland.
“I was so excited because I’ve loved them for such a long time and they haven’t came here in a while” said Ethan Westhoff on how he reacted to when he got tickets to the Two Door Cinema Club concert.

Concerts are a great way to meet new people and discover new music. Through summer, all these concerts can make summer 2016 memorable.
