1: Facebook/Twitter/Other Social Media
With the improvements in technology, it’s only two clicks away from chatting and sharing pictures with friends. You can stay up to date with what your friends are becoming interested in if you haven’t talked with them in a while. Even over long distances you can be well informed over relationships, events, and changes in their life.
2: Meet Up
Find some time off from school a weekend, snow-day, any day that you can take some time and hang with friends. Don’t be discouraged if you have to reschedule more than a couple times, having a face-to-face with a friend is important.
3: Skype
This will turn into one of the most important parts to keep up with friends. Facetime, Skype and any other face chat is great for seeing and talking with family and friends without the constant typing slowing you down. You can have multiple people Skyping, so try to plan a Skype date with friends.
4: Keep Addresses and Phone Numbers
Whenever you talk to friends or family ask for their phone or/and address, write it down and keep it somewhere you wont loose or forget it. While Facebook and Twitter are great tools, people can get hacked or delete their information. It can be a little work trying to get all this information at one time, but once it’s organized, you’ll have no trouble keeping it updated.
5: Letters
Keeping to tradition, letters can be the best way to be in contact with friends and family. It might take a little more time than an instant text, but you can make them more emotional than a dull text. Everyone can appreciate a little card, or some pictures in their mailbox.
