It Takes Two

Friends Stick Together Since Middle School

Sophomores Marcello Martin and Stephen Kelly had been buddies ever since the time they were in activities together in middle school.

When Kelly and Martin first met in 2018 through football, they soon realized they were members of the same Boy Scout troop and band at New Mark Middle School, which led to them playing in the same band in high school.

“Just having campouts in meetings that we just hung out and playing the game of football together, and just being in the same band creating music with each other, really strengthened our friendship,” Kelly said.

Like some individuals they started off just getting to know each other through things they had in common, and it was quite easy for them because they had so many things that they did with one another.

“It also grew even more when I found out he was in the same scout troop as I was planning on going to,” Kelly said

They remained friends ever since their first middle school football practice, and they were excited to play with one another once again in the high school band.

“It was a lot of fun; I was glad I knew someone,” Kelly said

When Martin and Kelly knew that they were going to play in the high-school band together, they were happy.

“I’m trying to get better at skills I’m trying to excel in because it’s easy not doing the work,” Martin said

In high school, Martin and Kelly supported one another when times were tough. Through all of their challenges, they remained friends and supported one another regardless of what happened.

“It’s honestly made my life a lot better being able to talk to somebody that kind of understands what I’m going through,” Kelly said

Martin wants to get more into coding and games on his computer when he’s older, and he plays a couple online games as well and wants to stay in the band at least until his senior year. Kelly said he also wants to stay in the band until his senior year, and he also wants to get into coding with games or online.
