Cheer Wins State

Staley Varsity cheer has gone to state every year and come home with the same result, but this year they had a different experience.

They had come in second for five straight years, and they were going with a new attitude. They wanted to win. They have been preparing for weeks, and they were ready for this.

“We practiced three hours a day twice a week,” said freshman Carollena Silvio.

Finally competition day arrived, and everyone was so excited and nervous to compete.  They wanted to win after getting second place last year.

“The day of competition we went through the routine and just cleaned up some loose ends,” said Silvio.

They went out and did the best they could, and all they could do now was wait, and wait until the judges had decided the winner. The winner was announced, and it was Staley. After five years, Staley cheer finally has a State title.

“It was just so unreal, I was just so proud of my team,” said junior Alli Jeske.
