The school will be hosting its first Diversity Week starting Oct. 18 during Falcon Time with an all-school assembly. The theme of the week is, “sharing our stories and celebrating each other.”
“I hope it’s going to be a really great week, and I hope by the end of our very first week that the experience students walk away with is that students all feel seen, heard and celebrated,” assistant to the principal Kassie Redmond said. “No matter how they feel walking through these hallways, at the end of the week that they feel more connected to someone or something and feel good.”
During the assembly, the Falcon Chorale will be performing the song, “Nordliss,” and they will be singing in Spanish.
“It feels cool to be a part of it and embrace diversity and be a part of something that is a first to happen in the district,” senior Alyssa Smith said.
During Falcon Time Tuesday, the classes will do a circle related to Monday’s assembly, and Friday will be the first Town Hall meeting in school history where the student body and teachers will have the option of gathering together in the Performing Arts Center to discuss questions from students.
Friday during all lunches, there will be a Global Gallery Walk held in the FLEX Auditorium with tables set up for students to visit and learn about different cultures present in the school community.
