No Shave November is here once again. This month, many people will be abandoning their razors. No Shave November originated from Australia and was originally call Movember- Mo as in mustache. Men everywhere in Australia would grow out their mustaches during the month of November in support of prostate cancer, which is the most common cancer among men. Eventually, word spread and it came to America. The name got changed from Movember to No Shave November, ridding it of its Australian roots completely.
It’s for a good cause, but not many people actually know that. When asked where No Shave November came from, many people said “I don’t know.” Most people are unaware of its cause.
“Maybe some random person just said, hey let’s not shave in November!” said sophomore Jacqueline Beffa. “I feel unrushed in the mornings though.”
There has been some debate with whether girls should be allowed to participate in No Shave November as well.
“It really doesn’t bug me, it’s really just a your choice type of thing. If boys can participate, then girls can participate.” said sophomore Brooke VanSickle.
So the next time that a hairy leg or face is in the hallway, remember that it’s for a good cause.
